L.U.C XPS Twist QF
It was in the 1990s, when traditional watchmaking was just emerging from the quartz crisis, that Chopard’s Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele took the bold decision to create a workshop dedicated to the development of the first entirely in-house calibre, in tribute to Louis-Ulysse Chopard. This ambitious project led to the creation of the L.U.C 96.01-L, an ultra-thin self-winding movement equipped with a bidirectional micro-rotor and two stacked barrels endowing the calibre with a 65-hour power reserve. Both versatile and incomparably accurate at the time, this calibre heralded the birth of Chopard Manufacture and the prestigious L.U.C collection, embodying the perfect blend of watchmaking tradition and innovation.
Thanks to its level of integration, Chopard now designs, develops and produces all its calibres inhouse. The reliability and quality of L.U.C movements have earned them chronometer certification from the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), as well as prestigious distinctions such as the Fleurier Quality Foundation label and the Poinçon de Genève. Less than 30 years after presenting its first calibre, the Manufacture has reached a degree of maturity now enabling it to offer a complete range of horological complications, all made in-house and combining tradition with innovation. Since 1997, the L.U.C collection expresses a visionary and demanding vision of Haute Horlogerie.

These exacting standards are also reflected in the finishing of the watches themselves, which are designed for customers looking for technical sophistication, tradition and watchmaking expertise, as well as elegance. This level of precision and refinement explains the rarity of L.U.C watches, fewer than 4,500 of which are produced each year in the Manufacture’s workshops.
L.U.C timepieces are distinguished not only by their precision, but also by their ability to incorporate sophisticated horological complications. Whether a jumping hour, perpetual calendar or tourbillon model, the timepieces in the collection demonstrate exceptional mastery of watchmaking complexities.

In addition to their technical qualities, L.U.C watches stand out for their refined design combining classicism and modernity. Each model features a pure design, perfectly balanced proportions and extremely refined finishes. Whether Ethical gold or stainless steel, the materials chosen bear witness to Chopard’s strong ethical commitment to responsible luxury. Lucent Steel™, the alloy used by Chopard to make its cases and bracelets, is composed of at least 80% recycled steel. In addition, the Maison makes a point of ensuring perfect finishes visible both on the outside and inside the case, with details such as hand-guilloche dials and movements adorned with Cotes de Geneve.
Each L.U.C watch tells a story, that of a family business, of a heritage and expertise passed down through the generations. For connoisseurs of Haute Horlogerie, L.U.C watches are much more than mere time-measuring instruments, but instead exceptional timepieces.
